Ready to find out what MSU Denver can do for you? We’ve got you covered.
Internships provide students with the opportunity to integrate academic learning with practical work experience in a professional environment. These opportunities are expected to be structured, real-world experiences in which students are mentored by an on-site supervisor.
If the internship is for academic credit, students will be evaluated by their site supervisor and their faculty supervisor (faculty of record for the internship course). Additional information about internships for academic credit is provided further down this page.
The C2Hub is here to support students by providing resources; however, students are responsible for finding their own internship opportunities. The C2Hub does not secure internship placements for students.
*Unpaid internships should be completed for academic credit in order to provide the student with worker’s compensation coverage
International students should also review this additional information from the Registrar’s office before accepting any internship offers.

Applying for an internship and submitting an application for academic credit are two separate (but related) processes.
Successfully registering for an internship for academic credit takes a lot of pre-planning. We recommend having students carefully review the How to Get Academic Credit for Your Internship website before starting their internship for credit search, to make sure they are aware of all requirements.
Faculty Approver – the professor in the department who reviews the internship application (depending on the major, this person might also be the faculty supervisor)
Faculty Supervisor (or Supervising Professor) – the MSU Denver faculty member who will be overseeing the internship course and connecting with the student throughout the semester; the faculty supervisor will assign the final grade
Internship Supervisor – the person who will be supervising the student at the internship site
SMART Learning Objectives – a statement explaining what the student wants to accomplish at the internship, and how they plan to accomplish those goals

To ensure academic integrity and compliance with federal financial aid regulations, the following rules apply to the timing of internship work and course registration for academic credit:
This policy applies to all for-credit internships, regardless of whether they are paid or unpaid.
The Classroom to Career Hub (C2Hub) provides resources and one-on-one support to help students in their internship search.
One such resources is Career Link, which highlights job and internship postings from employers who want to hire MSU Denver students and recent graduates.
The C2Hub does not secure placements for students or determine if an internship meets the requirements for academic credit.
Faculty and staff are welcome to help students look for opportunities, however, the student’s chosen internship must adhere to our published policies for employers.
After the student secures an internship, they will submit their application for academic credit. This is an online application submitted via Career Link.
If a student is having trouble with the online application, please encourage them to contact [email protected] for help.
If a staff or faculty member is having trouble with the online application, please contact the Experiential Learning Program Manager, Cassie Mullin, at [email protected].
1. The Experiential Learning Program Manager, EL Student Assistant, or Program Representative is assigned as the initial reviewer for the C2Hub, and reviews the application for the following information:
2. The application is sent to the Internship Supervisor, who will verify the internship offer and the SMART Learning Objectives submitted by the student.
3. The application is sent to the identified department faculty member for final approval. The faculty member reviews the following:
Once the application is fully approved, the academic department is notified by email, which includes a copy of the finalized application. The academic department will then complete the following:
