Student Affairs is committed to ensuring that every Roadrunner has the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. The Classroom to Career (C2) Hub provides career development programs and activities for all MSU Denver students. We strive to embed experiential learning and career engagement into the full Roadrunner experience. Our exploratory advisors support students who have not yet chosen a major to map out an academic plan aligned to their career aspirations. Students can develop important leadership skills by serving as a Peer Mentor while also supporting fellow Roadrunners in navigating the campus and virtual environment. As a student, you have access to a variety of online resources including resume review tools and our database, Career Link, of employment and internship opportunities. The Career Engagement Team provides support to tailor your job search both for today and for the future of work. We offer a variety of workshops and activities to help you develop your application materials including resume, cover letter, salary negotiation and more. Additionally, this team works to ensure professional development is part of the student employment experience for work-study positions.
The C2 Hub recognizes that faculty members play a critical role in supporting students’ success and career attainment, so the Faculty Engagement team provides faculty-focused programming and course resources that help provide additional career readiness support for students.
The Industry Partnerships team engages industry, campus and community stakeholders in mutually beneficial experiences to provide students with robust, career-focused opportunities.
The Pathways to Possible (P2P) program is designed to recruit underserved high school students and support them on their pathway to college success. The program helps students navigate the hurdles that come with transitioning into college, and supports them as they find their communities on campus, decide what to study and explore their identities.
Scholar Support & Retention works with our scholarship recipients to ensure students receive holistic support throughout their academic journey.
Student Engagement and Wellness is an array of departments and services that help students be their best selves, stay the course, and succeed in school, career, and life. We believe that wellness is more than just good grades or a good job, it also means taking care of our minds, bodies and spirits. We also recognize that life happens, so our team of professionals has you covered so you can get support and stay the course. And lastly, college is the perfect time to try something new, make new friends and explore new activities and interests, so we have a wide variety of programming designed with you in mind:
Campus Recreation provides high-quality and innovative co-curricular experiences through comprehensive recreation, fitness and leisure services that foster personal, academic and professional success for the students, faculty and staff of MSU Denver and the Auraria community. Their purpose is to foster individual and community well-being through the power of engagement, leadership, partnership and recreation. They envision a community where healthy living and lifelong learning intersect to support personal, professional and institutional success.
The Center for Equity and Student Achievement‘s (CESA’s) mission is to support and educate students throughout their MSU Denver journey and to advocate for a campus community that promotes equity and inclusion. To achieve this, the center supports a wide variety of support programs and programming, such as:
Balancing the demands of college life can be difficult. In addition to academic requirements, there are financial pressures, relationship issues, and job stressors that can leave you feeling beat up and worn out. The Counseling Center staff can help you find ways to manage difficult times and provide you with a comforting place to examine your life and learn more about yourself so you can realize your potential. The center provides mental health counseling, crisis intervention assistance, sexual assault resources, individual counseling, therapy and support groups, workshops (substance abuse, academic, personal effectiveness and diversity), mind and body activities and self-help resources.
The Dean of Students Office provides student support and is committed to student safety and well-being while fostering a University community of integrity and respect. It is a hub for students who need support with personal matters or difficult situations impacting their University experience. The office provides referrals and resources for students in need, helps students navigate University processes, offers students conflict resolution services, addresses student behavior via the Student Code of Conduct, coordinates the CARE Team and more! Be engaged in the MSU Denver experience and have your voice heard through participation in the Student Input Panel.
The Health Center at Auraria offers both medical and mental health services, and is open to all AHEC, CCD, MSU Denver and CU Denver students, faculty and staff regardless of their insurance plan. From primary care and preventative care to care for illnesses and injuries, the Health Center at Auraria provides comprehensive medical and mental health services. We are committed to enhancing student success through innovative health services and the services provided are designed to keep students, faculty and staff healthy so that they can thrive personally and professionally.
The Student Care Center houses MSU Denver’s case management services. The Student Care Center provides holistic, non-clinical case management support to MSU Denver students who are facing challenging life circumstances that may prevent them from otherwise pursuing their educational goals. Case managers do outreach out behalf of the CARE Team, while the Center also supports:
The Office of Enrollment Management recruits and admits undergraduate and graduate students from various multicultural backgrounds, as it is committed to attracting, enrolling, retaining and graduating an empowered student body. They are a student-centered, evidence-based, technology-driven division that collaborates with internal and external partners to support the University’s mission and commitment to access, academic quality, diversity, equity and inclusion. The Office of Admissions & Outreach is responsible for all new and transfer undergraduate student admission and recruitment to the institution. Admissions has implemented Auto-Admit (2019), the Common Application (2020) and uses the Slate platform to recruit, communicate with and admit students. The Admissions office also houses the Crew In Blue which maintains the Welcome Desk and is in charge of campus tours, the Excel program which helps high school seniors in the college process and building connections while in high school, TRIO High School Upward Bound which helps high school students study and improve their grades, and the Center for Urban Education which partners with DPS to strengthen the preparation of prospective teachers for the unique challenges of working in urban schools.
The Office of Financial Aid assists you and your family by providing information on ways to pay for education. The office can help you explore student aid options, learn about campus-specific financial aid programs, give advice on borrowing, help you complete the FAFSA/DAIA application, obtain any aid forms you need and assist you with applying for scholarships, including providing scholarship essay help. Financial Aid also houses the Enrollment Management Call Center and new ChatBot. The Call Center is the phone point of contact for the Office of Admissions, Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships and the Office of the Registrar and answers more than 125,000 calls each year with the goal of providing accurate information to callers in a professional and friendly manner.
The Finish What You Started (FWYS) program provides personal, professional, academic and financial support to qualifying students as they look to complete their Bachelors degree.
The mission of Orientation, Transfer and Re-engagement is to support students in transition through high-quality orientation programs preparing them for success at MSU Denver. The office facilitates intentional and purposeful programs to meet a variety of student and family needs, integrating students and families into the University community, developing and empowering student leaders and collaborating with key internal and external partners. They serve all students, including; first-time freshman, transfer students, non-traditional students (23 and older), student veterans, parents/families and student leaders. They connect students to MSU Denver by getting them excited to be an MSU Denver Roadrunner, to their academic advisors who help them register for their first set of classes and to financial aid and other relevant campus resources.
The Office of the Registrar supports the University’s mission on the vision of Community-Access-Diversity-Respect-Entrepreneurship. In so doing, this office is the steward of monitoring the University’s academic policies and maintaining student records with integrity and security in the pursuit of student academic achievement. The Registrar can assist you with records and registration (requesting official transcripts, administrative withdrawal, enrollment verification and grades), transfer evaluation (transcript evaluation status and CLEP/AP/IB status), international student support, and graduation information (degree progress reports, degree status and diplomas).
The mission and goal of the Office of Testing Services is to offer placement testing services to the MSU Denver student body. All first-time college students (and transfer/adult students without the appropriate transfer credits) are required to take a series of exams before registering for their first-semester classes if their ACT or SAT scores are below state cutoff scores. The exams measure college entry-level skills in writing and mathematics and are used by advisers to help determine the selection of appropriate courses.
