Karina A. Benabe, MSW

Biography

Karina (she/ella) received both her BA in Anthropology and MSW from Washington University in St. Louis. She has experience in fundraising and development, direct services provision, volunteer management, translation and interpretation (Spanish/English), and higher education. Much of Karina’s experience working with clients has been at the intersection of law and social work, having worked in interdisciplinary teams of social workers and attorneys to provide services to adults in immigration detention. She also has some experience working in indigent criminal defense. Karina brings her experiences, both successful and challenging, to the classroom as a way for students to apply theory to real world practice.

In her free time, Karina loves reading horror literature, birding, crafting, baking, and spending time with her spouse and pups.
