Accessibility MegaBytes

Prioritizing all aspects of instruction and course design can be challenging especially with a busy schedule. One solution is to schedule time to focus on a specific aspect or area. With that in mind, the IAG offers Accessibility Megabytes, an in-person working session bookable by departments or small groups of faculty (5+). Faculty dedicate this 90-120 minute time block to improving course accessibility in their classes with the benefit of having the IAG provide some training in addition to be present for immediate consultation during the working time.

MegaBytes can be scheduled with your department coordinator in a convenient department room, or ask us if the CTLD has availability to host and provide lunch in the AD 325A classroom.

If you are an individual faculty interested in attending a MegaByte, fill out the MegaByte Request Form with your top 3 topics. If 5 faculty request the same topic, we will organize a MegaByte with those faculty.

Here are some (but certainly not all) potential topics for MegaByte sessions,:

  • Canvas page structure
  • Document structure
  • Canva Flyers
  • Image Description: What, How, plus With help from AI
  • Intro to PDF Remediation with Acrobat
  • Intro to Understanding HTML and Accessibility
  • Adding and Linking Long Text Description Slides in PowerPoint.
  • Using AI to Help Transcribe Scans
  • Work on Captioning (remember your headphones)
  • Mixed Accessibility working session (no training portion)

If you’re interested in hosting a MegaByte, fill out the MegaByte Request Form, and a member of the IAG will contact you about scheduling a session.
