Biography

Professional Background: Louise Haimowitz LCSW has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1985 and has held numerous community mental health positions providing individual /family therapy, clinical supervision, community education, and program administration within nonprofit settings serving at-risk populations of children and families. Louise has had extensive experience treating parent-infant dyads struggling with abuse/neglect/attachment disorders. She utilizes EMDR for treating complex trauma, as well as DBT and Trauma-Informed CBT to treat severe mental health conditions. As a group facilitator, Louise currently provides clinical education and support to Colorado Social Caseworkers aimed at improving resiliency and reducing the incidence of vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. Louise has been a professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver since 2011 and has been grateful for the opportunity to teach masters level clinical social work courses: Generalist Practice; Advanced Integrated Clinical Practice; Direct Intervention with Children, Youth and Families; Maternal & Infant Mental Health; and Internship Experience.
