Not all students learn in the same way! Maybe you have wondered why your studying doesn’t pay off with better results, or why you can’t feel confident about material you think you should know. You are busy and you want to get the most out of your efforts. You want to feel like the good student you know you can be. This workshop will assist students in understanding different types of learning styles, identifying their own best approach to learning, and being more confident in class and as a lifelong learner.

This in-person workshop is designed to assist the well-prepared student and the student who struggles with preparation and planning for exams. It addresses those who lose confidence and blank out on the day of the exam, as well as those who struggle with preparing for exams. If anxiety, confidence, or unsuccessful study habits have ever impaired your test performance, then this may be a good workshop for you.

One of the biggest challenges students face is managing their time, especially with an increasing number of classes online. This has presented a different sort of time management problem, with many people having an increase in unstructured time, but yet struggling to get their work done. How do you motivate yourself to get to work now, when there seems to be plenty of time later? This virtual workshop addresses all of the usual causes of procrastination, along with some of the newer ones specific to online work, as well as ways to overcome these.

Graduate students often have to juggle a lot with managing the demands of school, work, and family. This workshop will provide graduate students an opportunity to identify sources of stress and healthy ways of managing it.

Most of us are familiar with nagging thoughts that tell us we are not good enough, that cast doubt on our goals, and undermine our accomplishments. We can learn how to buffer imposter feelings with kindness. This workshop provides simple tools for responding in a kind, compassionate way to critical thoughts. Learn how to stop being so hard on yourself and cultivate greater self-compassion.
