Crisis Intervention

Counseling Center staff are currently working both remotely and on-campus in order to best meet the needs of our students. You may call our main number at 303-615-9988 to get someone live, or to leave a message at this number.

If you feel you need immediate assistance due to being in a crisis, the Counseling Center provides crisis appointments. Some examples of crisis or urgent situations include:

  • Feeling like you may end your life
  • Feeling like you may seriously harm yourself or another person
  • Death of a loved one
  • Physical or sexual assault, stalking, relationship violence
  • Hearing voices
  • Not being able to function due to extreme psychological distress

Crisis appointments focus on helping you cope with immediate stressors that are impacting your ability to function, and determining helpful next steps. You will be asked to complete a few forms so that we may help you as efficiently and as effectively as possible.

If you need crisis assistance after 4:30 p.m., or on weekends and holidays, please call our 24/7 Mental Health and Victims’ Assistance Crisis line at 303-615-9911. Identify yourself as an Auraria student.
