MSU Denver

Overview of Services

Clients are encouraged to participate in several of our programs that are designed to assist with retention and success. For example, in addition to personal psychotherapy, we offer a variety of academic skills, interpersonal skills, and diversity workshops.

Clients’ initial meeting with the therapist is designed to assess the most relevant issues that may be contributing to misunderstandings, misperceptions, feelings of invalidation, or stuck points in life. Clients obtain some degree of resolution and comfort after a few sessions. Clients are assisted with examining their lives very deeply to look for recurring patterns that could be adjusted and are empowered to make changes that fit their preferences and lifestyles.

Therapist appointments are scheduled with the student’s academic and job schedules in mind in an attempt to remove any barriers that could prevent attendance.

Let’s Talk

Effective Spring 2023 we will be providing an option-Let’s Talk, for brief, informal conversations for students who do not desire a therapy session. Topics may include concerns about a family member or friend, consultation about a dilemma one is facing, questions about therapy before engaging in treatment with a therapist, or other topics needing a second opinion. Conversations will be no longer than twenty minutes.

Let’s Talk options are provided on Mondays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and Thursdays, from 10:00-11 a.m.

It is open to MSU Denver Students who are currently enrolled. It is an in-person service only that is provided free, on a first-come first served basis.

Students who present with mental health issues will be referred for a therapy appointment.
