Biography

Brenda (she/her) joined MSU Denver in August of 2020 as an affiliate professor through the School of Social Work. She holds a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from Texas State University in San Marcos and a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Brenda was a recipient of the Colorado Child Welfare Scholar’s Consortium stipend. Brenda’s career in the human services field spans over 29 years, serving in a multitude of roles in both rural and urban county child welfare in Colorado. Brenda brings experience with training, coaching, and various trauma lensed practice.  Brenda’s parents and family inspired her advocacy and dedicated service to children, youth, and families experiencing trauma, homelessness, food insecurities, physical and cognitive disabilities and immigration. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, gardening, anything outdoors, yoga and exploring new places.
