Internal and External Scholarship & Loan Opportunities
MSU Denver, MSU Denver Foundation, Public, and Private organizations provide scholarship opportunities every year to MSU Denver students. All students at MSU Denver are encouraged to apply for scholarships. Priority deadline is March 1st.
Master of Health Administration Scholarship
The MSU Denver Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program invites applications for its’ scholarship. Deadline for the Fall 2024 scholarship is March 31, 2025 . These awards were created by the MHA faculty and staff to assist MHA students who demonstrate strong academic performance and have demonstrated a financial need. The scholarship selection is completely separate from the MHA program admission review, and decision process. The scholarship committee will only award scholarships to active MHA students.
We are seeking applications from MHA students who have a commitment to the Health Administration profession and to the MHA Core values.
Review the scholarship required criteria below before applying below. Any students who do not meet these requirements will be ineligible for the scholarship.
- Be a current MHA student in good standing.
- FAFSA or CASFA Application must be completed by March 31, 2025 for eligibility
- Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) with financial aid
- Have successfully completed 6 credits in the MHA program by March 31, 2025
- Cumulative graduate GPA of 3.5 as of March 31, 2025
- Submit a 500 word essay on the MHA Core Values and how you plan to incorporate them into your professional career in health care administration. Review the MHA Core Values here: https://www.msudenver.edu/master-health-administration/about-mha/#mha-core-values .
- Complete the application by the Deadline of March 31, 2025
Applicants must complete both the MSU Denver Scholarship Application and the MHA Scholarship Application.
MSU Denver Department of Health Professions Scholarship
In addition to all of the various scholarships offered at MSU Denver, the Department of Health Professions (HEP) created the Rising Star scholarship specifically for HEP students. The Rising Star scholarship is an award for students showing initiative, enthusiasm, and potential for future success in the HEP Department. It is the intent of the Rising Star scholarship to be able to support HEP students in their pursuit of becoming a passionate professional in their field of study. Students should apply using the MSU Denver Scholarship Application.
Criteria:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Be a HEP Student (HCM, HCPS, HCIS, IHC, Lifestyle Medicine, Aging Services, PUB, or MHA)
- Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours (6 credit hours for graduate students).
- Meet MSU Denver’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid
- Submit a 500-word essay answering the following: Describing the lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. Perhaps it was a time when you were under pressure to make a significant decision. Explain the situation and the reason you acted as you did. How did it effect you, what was the impact of your action(s)? Would you make the same decision again today?

MSU Denver Student Employment
The Student Employment Program at Metropolitan State University of Denver is meant to provide students paid jobs to help alleviate a portion of their educational expenses. In addition, student employees will garner professional experience and develop leadership skills. By participating in the program, students contribute to the success of the institution and are considered valuable employees of MSU Denver.
Colorado Association of Healthcare Executives Scholarships
The Colorado Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) is proud to sponsor several student programs throughout the year. This includes networking events, attendance at Congress, and mentoring.
ACHE Albert W. Dent Scholarship
The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Albert W. Dent, the first African-American Fellow of ACHE. This scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to racially/ethnically students in healthcare management graduate programs to help offset tuition costs, student loans and expenses.
ACHE Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship
The Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives established this scholarship in honor of Foster G. McGaw, the founder of the American Hospital Supply Corporation. This scholarship is offered to provide financial aid to students in healthcare management graduate programs to help offset tuition costs, student loans and expenses.
Richard J. Stull Student Essay Competition in Healthcare Management
The purpose of the competition is to stimulate and demonstrate the ability of future healthcare executives to identify and describe important issues and developments in their chosen profession.
APHA Student Assembly Grant Award
The Annual Meeting Student Scholarship Fund has awarded more than 220 student scholarships since APHA 2012. These scholarships offer students a chance to learn the latest public health science and practice, connect with seasoned professionals, meet new mentors and, hopefully, find a lifelong home within the APHA community.
AUPHA Scholarships
The Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) is a global network of colleges, universities, faculty, individuals and organizations dedicated to the improvement of health and healthcare delivery through excellence in healthcare management and policy education. Its mission is to foster excellence and drive innovation in health management and policy education, and promote the value of university-based management education for leadership roles in the health sector. AUPHA has a number of scholarships for health administration students.
NAHSE Student Scholarships
The NAHSE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to support minority students pursuing careers in health care management or a related field. We realize that finances are often a barrier to completing academic programs; therefore, we hope students who are in financial need will be encouraged to apply for these scholarships.
MGMA Student Scholarships
Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) is a key element in perpetuating success throughout the healthcare industry. The ACMPE Scholarship Fund Inc. (SFI) is a program that supports individuals who, by virtue of experience, current position and future career plans, demonstrate potential to contribute to MGMA’s mission of transforming healthcare.
MSU Denver Professional Licensure Funding
The Graduate School Entrance Exam & Professional Licensure Program is a student fee funded resource that provides financial assistance for students looking to complete a graduate school entrance exam (GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) OR complete a certification/licensure course or exam that is directly related to their area of study or leadership position on campus.
Dreamer Graduate Loan Program
This student-centric loan program is designed to provide financial and educational support, ensuring Dreamers attending graduate degree programs only take on manageable debt to achieve their career aspirations.
Initially, the program will be only open to TheDream.US graduates. As funding allows, the program will be extended to other college graduates with DACA or TPS.
