Provides opportunities inside and outside the classroom to cultivate and enhance your overall learning and academic experience.
Economics extends beyond just the concepts of money, profits, and the stock market. It provides a unique lens-focusing on incentives, choices, and markets-to discern the root causes and uncover solutions for enduring societal challenges. Through this lens, we can illuminate pressing topics like production, education, crime, the environment, international trade, immigration, health care, economic growth, poverty, and beyond.
The Bachelor of Arts in Economics offers students a versatile and well-rounded education, providing a solid foundation in economic theory and empirical analysis. This degree program allows for greater flexibility as students are not required to declare a minor. Instead, they have the opportunity to curate their education by selecting from a wide array of upper-division economics electives that align with their specific interests and career aspirations. Students are encouraged to complement their economics coursework with classes from other disciplines, fostering an interdisciplinary perspective on the policy issues that matter most to them. Upon graduation, students with a BA in Economics will be well-equipped to pursue careers across various sectors and industries. They will also be highly prepared for admission into graduate programs in fields such as economics, agricultural economics & applied economics, political science, sociology, or law. With its emphasis on flexibility and interdisciplinary learning, the BA in Economics empowers students to forge their own unique paths to success.

Major milestones consist of activities students should complete during their first year, middle years and last year at MSU Denver. These milestones will help prospective and current students explore major and career options and create a year-by-year plan to integrate curricular (what happens inside the classroom), co-curricular (what happens inside and outside the classroom, and non-curricular (what happens outside the classroom) experiences. For example, milestones might list specific classes student should take at specific times along their journey or may suggest when students should participate in research opportunities with faculty members.
Simply put, Major Milestones are meant to enhance your student experience and set you up for success.
