Log in to your Student Profile. Does the notice section in the upper-right corner say “Permits Registration”?
2. Check your holds
Some holds can prevent you from registering. Check your Student Profile via Student Hub under “Course Info” for hold codes and next steps.
3. Review your degree progress
Your Degree Progress Report (DPR) shows what you’ve completed and what you still need.
4. Meet with your advisor
Your advisor can help you understand degree requirements, explore options, choose courses and answer questions.
5. Build your schedule
Available classes are posted two weeks before Priority Registration opens. Use that time to review your options and build your schedule.
6. Register
When your registration window opens, log in to your Student Profile via Student Hub under “Web Services” to register for classes.
If you don’t meet the participation requirements that your instructor has set for each class, you may be dropped. This can impact your path to graduation and your financial aid eligibility.
MSU Denver is required by Title IV regulations to verify that all students are actively participating in their courses before the census date for each class.
What is the census date?
Basically, it’s the official reporting deadline that colleges and universities must follow. If you’re not actively engaged in your class by that date, MSU Denver cannot report your enrollment.

Life happens. If you need to change your schedule, check the deadlines for your specific class before dropping or withdrawing.
Deadlines can vary by part of term, so make sure you know the dates that apply to your class.
If you’re unsure what to do, talk with your advisor before making a change.
Students meeting graduation requirements are not automatically awarded a degree.
You’ve got to apply!
Degrees are awarded three times a year at the end of each semester: in May, August, and December. The degree evaluation process and Commencement event are NOT the same. The Commencement Ceremony date and the Graduation date will be different.
If you’re considering a different major, start by reviewing the Program of Study Change form.

Being on a waitlist does not guarantee a seat in the class.
If a seat becomes available, you’ll receive a notification via student email (so keep checking throughout the summer and winter breaks).
Follow the registration steps in that email and register within 24 hours to secure your spot. Otherwise, the seat will be offered to the next student.

If you transferred coursework from another institution, your transfer evaluation can help you understand how your credits may apply to your degree.
Use the Transfer Toolbox to see which credits will transfer to MSU Denver, how they apply to your degree, and the necessary steps you need to complete.
The Transfer Toolbox provides an unofficial evaluation, so you’ll still need to submit your official transcripts for a final review.
Some changes require a form or additional documentation.

Think of Priority Registration like presale for a concert!
Eligible students get early access to register. Your registration date and time is based on the number of credit hours you’ve completed.
Registration opens in stages, starting with students who have the most completed credits:
120+ → 105–119
90–104 → 80–89
70–79 → 60–69
50–59 → 40–49
30–39 → 20–29
10–19 → 1–9 credits → newly admitted students
Completed credit hours can be found on your Degree Progress Report (DPR).
Your registration window will be posted on the Academic Calendar or in the upper-right corner of your Student Profile, under Time Ticket once schedules have released.
You may not know your work schedule yet. Maybe you’re still figuring out childcare, finances, or what class times will work for you. That’s OK. Register early to give yourself the most options, then adjust your schedule as your plans become clear.
Register during open enrollment as soon as you can. Schedule changes can come later, but registering early gives you more options to work with.
Not every class lasts the full 16-week semester. Explore courses offered late-start or shorter parts of term and accelerated options.
Cover sixteen weeks worth of material in a condensed eight-week format. Accelerated general studies courses are available.
Check your registration status and holds in your Student Profile. Some holds prevent registration and must be resolved before you can register.

Options or waivers are available and often quicker than you think.
Some full classes offer a waitlist. If a waitlist is available, you can add yourself through the registration system.
A waitlist does not guarantee a seat. If a seat becomes available, you’ll receive an email with instructions to register. Once notified, you will have 24 hours to register.
Check your MSU Denver email regularly and follow the instructions within the time provided.

Delivery Method

Delivery methods can affect when and where you participate, such as in person, online or hybrid.
Planning for classes also means planning for college costs.
Think of finances in a yearly cycle, rather than right before semester. Even if you’re unsure about next term, be sure about your options!
