Description: Please join us for the 2nd annual Golden Nest Club Luncheon to celebrate all alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago. The luncheon will include remarks from University President, Dr. Janine Davidson, a celebration of the classes of 1969 (55 Year Reunion) and 1974 (50 Year Reunion) and the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the Alumni Association.

Roy Alexander

2024 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner: Roy Alexander

Currently vice chair, and an independent director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka since January 2015, Milroy Alexander is former executive director and CEO, and former Chief Financial Officer of Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), where he was employed for more than 21 years. From 2010 to 2014 he was a business consultant assisting nonprofits and city government with their affordable housing development programs and initiatives. He has an established career in broad-based business and financial services, along with his extensive record of community service providing leadership, executive and management oversight to many organizations.

Prior to joining CHFA, Roy was a finance manager with Ohmeda, a major medical devices manufacturer in Boulder, CO; senior audit manager at Deloitte in Denver, where he worked for 11 years as a CPA; and owner of a Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Company franchise store in one of Colorado’s largest regional shopping malls for nine years.

He is board chair of Northeast Denver Housing Center, Inc., a role he has held for over 20 years, advisory board member of MSU Denver’s Accounting department and its Athletics Advisory Committee; and was recently board chair of the Lowry Redevelopment Authority for its last eight years of existence until its sunset in 2023.

Roy’s long list of community organizations and entities served as board member or other advisory capacity, also includes National Council of State Housing Agencies, the Congressional Millennial Housing Commission, Senior Housing Options, Housing Colorado, Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association, Colorado Community Land Trust, Rose Community Foundation, Community First Foundation, Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, City of Denver Investment Advisory Committee, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Black Accountants, Boomers Leading Change, Metropolitan State University of Denver President’s Community Cabinet and Alumni Association Board, Urban League of Metropolitan Denver, Colorado Enterprise Fund, and others.

Mr. Alexander is the recipient of the 2006 David E. Bailey Small Business Advocate of the Year Award presented by Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. He is a former CPA, with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from MSU Denver. He has completed the Denver Community Leadership Forum program, the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation Leadership Denver program, and two University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business Executive Development Programs.

Roy and his wife, Sheryl, live in Denver and their son, Ian, is an MSU Denver electrical engineering technology graduate.
