AdmissionsAll Master’s programs at Metropolitan State University of Denver are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Some programs also operate under the regulation of discipline specific accreditors.

The minimum number of credits to earn a Master’s degree is 30. However, due to discipline specific accreditation policies, some Master’s program require many more credits for program completion.

The MAT, with concentrations in elementary education or special education, allows career changers to earn a Master’s degree and recommendation for licensure to teach in Colorado.
Successful graduates will be eligible to teach elementary (K-6) or special education (P-12) in any public school in Colorado and many other states and countries with reciprocity.

A Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with concentrations in Trauma-Informed Practices or Inclusive Practices will prepare students to acquire expertise in building and leading educational environments that meet the needs of all students.
The MEd degree will prepare you to be an innovator and a leader in the educational setting in which you work by exploring new methods of teaching and leadership to develop and lead educational environments that are equitable, sustaining, and responsive to the needs of every student.

A previous degree and position in education or social science is required.
The MEd program can be taken completely online through synchronous coursework.

MSU Denver provides students from business and non-business backgrounds with a valuable, high-quality, and experience-based MBA program through excellence in teaching, individual attention, and hands-on experience at an exceptional value. Our MSU Denver MBA program is offered by our AACSB-accredited College of Business. AACSB accreditation is seen as the gold standard of business education, earned by only 5% of the world’s business schools – adding both value and portability to your career and degree.
An MBA degree can be used to leverage one’s business experience, obtain increased global awareness, gain management experience and build valuable networks.
On average, most of our students’ take between 2 to 3 1/2 years to complete MSU Denver’s MBA program.
On average, in Academic Year 24/25, our students earn their MBA degree for less than $25,000 total!
While many of our applicants and admitted students already come from various business backgrounds, it is not a requirement. In order to apply to the program, you must already have a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution.
Domestic students can earn the MBA fully online/virtually. International students on F1 visas must attend in person.

Consisting of 30 credits (no thesis), the MPAcc program not only gives you the education necessary to prepare for Colorado’s CPA exam and other professional accounting certifications, but it also provides a forum in which to develop expertise, hone your critical thinking abilities and enhance your communication skills. Courses in the MPAcc program are research-based, writing intensive and leadership and teamwork oriented. Plus, you can build on your education by participating in a service-learning course or professional internship. MSU Denver’s rigorous graduate-level curriculum is designed to prepare you for the intense, demanding requirements and expectations of the accounting profession.
The MPAcc degree from MSU Denver prepares graduates for a variety of careers in public accounting, business & industry, government, nonprofit, higher education, healthcare, aerospace and more. Many of our graduates parlay their degrees into leadership positions as controllers, accounting and finance directors, vice presidents or use their in-depth accounting backgrounds to start businesses of their own.
Students typically complete the degree in 1.5 – 2 years. If students plan on working full time, or have other commitments, they should plan on completing the program in 2 years or more. All students are required to complete the degree within six (6) calendar years.
On average, our students can earn their MPAcc degree for less than $20,000 total (2025-2026 academic year tuition and fee table).
No accounting education background, no problem! Transcripts of admitted students are reviewed to determine if a student needs any prerequisite accounting courses (up to 2), all of which can be completed while enrolled in the MPAcc program.
Currently our program is predominantly in-person with most MPAcc classes meeting once a week starting at 5:30pm. Our faculty value the in-person connection in lively class discussions and the networking piece in getting to know your peers.

MSU Denver’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) is designed to prepare students for a challenging and rewarding career in health care administration.
This education prepares students to enter the health care administrative field and promote to leadership positions within health care organizations.
For a full-time graduate student, two years and one semester.
Program costs vary between $26,000 – 33,000 per year depending on resident status, housing options, and health insurance requirements. Current estimates are posted online.
Students are required to have completed a Bachelor’s degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution prior. The MHA program requires prerequisite coursework in accounting, economics and statistics with a “C” or better prior to the start of the program. Please note, MHA Applicants may submit their application prior to completing prerequisite coursework but must complete the courses through an approved method prior to the start of the program.

Our mission is to educate and empower future leaders in the fields of behavioral health and addictions counseling to provide excellence in service delivery across the entire continuum of care.
The Master of Science in Clinical Behavioral Health Program with emphasis in Addictions Counseling prepares students to work in a variety of behavioral health treatment and recovery settings. Students will integrate research, skill development, education in treatment and recovery, evidence-based practices, and experiential work in behavioral health and addictions counseling. This program meets the educational requirements one needs to pursue licensure as a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado.
The graduate program usually takes about 2 ½ – 3 years to complete, but there are options for you to complete the program in a shorter or longer period of time, depending on your specific needs.
Currently, courses cost $585 per credit, and the program requires 60 (LAC) to 66 (LAC + LPC) credits total. Total program costs range from $35,100 to $38,610. Prices may change over time. The cost of the program is based on individual circumstances. The university also mandates a semester student fee that is based on the number of credits for which a student is enrolled.
Applicants accepted into our program whose undergraduate degree was in an unrelated field are encouraged to take our Foundations of Addiction and Mental Health Counseling course. The class is designed to lay the groundwork of our master’s program. The course is offered in the summer and is free of charge.
Our program offers most courses in person with some synchronous course.

The mission of the CYBM program is to provide students with in-depth knowledge as well as practical skills in both policy and analysis of computer and network security, privacy, computer forensics, and the investigation, prosecution, and punishment of cybercrime.
M.S. in Cybersecurity graduates will be able to:
4 semesters: Fall semester: 9 credits, Spring semester: 9 credits, Summer semester: 9 credits, Fall semester: 9 credits. 36 credits total.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, the cost is $550 per credit hour (resident) and $725 per credit hour (non-resident) for a total of 36 credits (plus fees).
We have students in our program from a variety of backgrounds; having a cybersecurity, computer science or computer information systems background is helpful as our program can be quite technical, but we offer introductory classes that can help bridge the gap somewhat if you feel that you need to gain more knowledge. Courses are offered asynchronously online, synchronously online, and hybrid; i.e., in-person and online at the same time.

The Master of Science in Nutrition (MSN) program is a student-focused program that helps to strengthen research skills, expand knowledge of advanced nutrition topics, bolster communication skills and sets a student up to be a leader in the field of nutrition and dietetics. The Master of Science in Nutrition program offers a Dietetics Concentration, in which students can prepare themselves for a career path as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). The mission of the MSN program is to prepare diverse students to become nutrition leaders who practice effectively and contribute solutions for human health and healthcare challenges.
Students that complete the Dietetics Concentration will meet the requirements for a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) verification statement, which is the first initial step to become an RDN. Already credentialed RDNs can advance their knowledge via the General Nutrition Concentration. The General Nutrition Concentration can also be pursued by students who are looking for advanced nutrition related knowledge, looking to become researchers, food scientist, nutrition educators, etc.
A full-time student may finish the MSN program in as little as 12 months, including summer and winter semesters.
Combined tuition, excluding fees, starts at $18,450.
Prior to entry into the program, students need to complete a couple of science-based prerequisite courses, including chemistry, biological chemistry, organic chemistry, human anatomy and physiology, advanced nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
The MSN program offers some courses synchronously online and some courses in-person. Courses are offered in weekday evenings.

The SLP Master’s Program:
Our graduate degree in speech-language pathology (MS SLP) provides students a pathway to become clinically certified speech-language pathologists.
The program takes 23-months with a summer semester start and incorporates both didactic coursework and clinical work.
In academic year 24/25, the standard MS SLP program costs ~$46k (tuition & fees) for residents and members of the Western Regional Graduate Programs.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, Hearing Science (SLHS) or complete 30 credits of undergraduate SLHS requirements.
Everyone accepted to the MS SLP program will be expected to attend full time, in-person.
The program starts in the summer semester and the application deadline January 15.
