Research Management

  • Provide templates for prospective PIs to capture project ideas to guide prospect research
  • Conduct prospect research on public and private funding opportunities for faculty, staff, and students as well as for University strategic initiatives
  • Produce and disseminate customized Funding Opportunities Research Reports
  • Perform information searches on specific funders, including giving history, abstracts of similar funded projects, and tracking deadlines and updates
  • Manage COS Pivot database, tag and track records, and set up automatic searches
  • Provide group and one-on-one training for COS Pivot to assist faculty, staff, and students in conducting their own prospect research
  • Conduct research in other areas of need to the University, as requested

Proposal Development 

  • Conduct introductory meetings with prospective PIs to discuss their ideas and recommend next steps
  • Consult with PI and proposal development team regarding RFP specifications
  • Ensure that the requirements of the funding agency and institutional policies are being met throughout the proposal development process
  • Provide technical support in proposal writing, including demographic/statistical information, institutional documentation, literature reviews, bibliographies, logic models, and charts and tables
  • Edit and proofread proposal documents
  • Assist in preparation of project budgets
  • Coordinate internal proposal review process and submission authorizations
  • Submit final proposals to the funding agency as the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR)

Grants and Contracts Management 

  • Ensure proposals and contracts are in compliance with University policies and procedures, federal and state regulations, and funder guidelines
  • Ensure receipt and proper dissemination of awards and contracts
  • Create and maintain records for documenting and reporting grant activity
  • Assist with budget negotiations and revisions
  • Ensure awards and contracts are managed in compliance with government regulations
  • Assist with requests for renewals, continuations, and no-cost extensions
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of technical reports and close-out documents
