Your Registration Checklist

Get Ready

When can I register?

Think of Priority Registration like presale for a concert!

Priority registration groups are assigned based on completed credit hours.

Registration opens in stages beginning with students who have 120+ completed credit hours, and then progresses throughout a two week period:

Seniors: 120+ → 105–119 → 90–104

Juniors: 80–89 → 70–79 → 60–69

Sophomores: 50–59 → 40–49 → 30–39

Freshmen: 20–29 → 10–19 → 1–9

Priority registration windows will be posted on the Academic Calendar. Also, in the upper-right corner of your Student Profile after schedules have been released, under ‘Time Ticket‘.

You don’t have to have everything figured out to register early.

You may not know your work schedule yet. Maybe you’re still figuring out childcare, finances, or what class times work for you. That’s OK. Register early to have the widest range of classes and times to choose from, especially for classes you need for your degree. If plans change, you can adjust your schedule later.

Missed your Priority Registration window?

That’s OK, register as soon as you can. Schedule changes can come later, but registering early gives you more options to work with. View specific registration deadlines for each semester.

Hit a Registration Roadblock?

Before You Register

Part of Term
Check when your class starts and ends.

Not every class follows the full 16-week semester. Each part of term has its own registration, drop and withdrawal periods, plus important dates and deadlines.

Delivery Method
Check how your class is offered.

Delivery methods can affect when and where you participate, such as in person, online or hybrid.

Build Your Financial Plan

Planning for classes also means planning for college costs.

Think of finances in a yearly cycle, rather than right before semester. Even if you’re unsure about next term, be sure about your options!

FAFSA or CASFA Scholarships
Applications open October 1 each year to cover the next Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Apply early for more money. Priority applications are open each year December 1 – March 1. Awarded funds will help cover the next Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Availability may be first come first served basis.

Workday Student

Creating a Seamless Experience for Student Success

Workday Student is coming soon!

We are aligning our student information system (SIS) to meet the needs of the MSU Denver community, creating a more connected experience for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Beginning in Spring 2027, students will use Workday to complete many of the tasks that support their academic journey for the 2027 – 2028 academic school year.
  • This includes managing personal information, accepting financial aid, registering for Fall 2027 classes, viewing tuition charges, making payments, tracking progress toward graduation, and more!

Expected Timeline:
Newly admitted students for the Fall 2027 semester will begin their MSU Denver journey in Workday Student
Continuing students will transition away from the current Banner Student Profile and begin utilizing the Workday Student system in staggered phases starting January 2027

We’re looking forward to Roadrunners being able to access Workday Student from a computer or mobile device, offering flexibility and convenience wherever they are. More information about the transition, important dates, and steps students need to take will be shared on the Workday Student website as it becomes available.
