AAF Accuplacer General Information & Review

Students should prepare to take the Advanced Algebra and Functions (AAF) Accuplacer if they need to register for a 1000-level math class and do not already have a qualifying prerequisite (see below), and their degree plan requires:

  • MTH 1110 College Algebra for Calculus (also MTH 1108/09 or MTH 1111)
  • MTH 1112 College Algebra through Modeling
  • MTH 1120 College Trigonometry
  • MTH 1310 Finite Mathematics
  • MTH 1320 Calculus for Management and Social Sciences
  • MTH 1410 Calculus I

The MAST Department offers 3-hour review sessions for the AAF Accuplacer test.

  • In order to accommodate as many students as possible, some sessions will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams, while others will be in person.
  • Each session will consist of a brief lecture on topics and sample problems representative of the type of problems on the AAF Accuplacer. Students will be given a follow-up worksheet of similar problems with answers to complete on their own time after the session.
  • Each AAF Accuplacer review session will cover the following topics: linear equations, linear applications and graphs, factoring, quadratics, functions, radical and rational equations, polynomial equations, exponential and logarithmic equations, geometry concepts, and trigonometry.
  • It is strongly recommended that students attend the entire 3-hour session for a complete review of all topics on the test; however, a student who wishes to attend only part of a session may do so.
  • Reservations are *not* required to attend these sessions.

MSU Denver’s Student Academic Tutoring located in JSSB, suite 220 offers tutoring for the AAF. For more information and their office hours please visit: https://www.msudenver.edu/student-academic-services/tutoring/math-accuplacer-tutoring/
