Dear Roadrunners,

As you may have seen in news reports or on social media, the Auraria Campus is the site of a protest this week similar to demonstrations that have been occurring on college campuses around the country. I want to provide an update on what’s happening with the protest on the Tivoli Quad, which primarily involves students and others who are unaffiliated with campus.

We wholeheartedly support our community members’ right to peacefully assemble and protest. As I’ve said many times before, our University is deeply committed to healthy civic debate and freedom of expression.

I’ve also always been clear that the health, safety and security of our students, employees and visitors is the University’s top priority. Know that our leadership team is monitoring the event and working with the Auraria and Denver police departments, our campus partners and other state agencies to ensure the health, safety and security of our campus.

In addition to the demonstration, there are a number of other events on campus today, so please be aware of increased traffic near the Tivoli and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, if you have safety or other concerns, please remember that you can always contact the Auraria Police Department for assistance at 303-556-5000, text a tip to 720-593-TIPS (8477) or report instances of discrimination or harassment through the MSU Denver Office of Equal Opportunity

Also remember that MSU Denver has a variety of resources to support students, faculty members and staff members in handling and processing conflict, including counseling, an employee-assistance program, student conflict-resolution services and restorative justice resources.

Sincerely,

Janine Davidson, Ph.D.
President
