Training Guides

In each section below are the training guides by employee classification, actions for all employees and salary supplmental payments.  


Staff Salaried New Employee 

Used for a new employee who is a first time employee of the university; exempt from overtime 

Staff Salaried Transfer/Rehire (New Position)

Used for trasnferring an existing employee into a different postion or to rehire a former employee into a new position; exempt from overtime 

Staff Hourly New Employee

Used for a new employee who is a first time employee of the university; eligible for overtime

Staff Hourly Transfer/Rehire (New Position)

Used for transferring an existing employee into a different position or to rehire a former employee into a new position; eligible for overtime

Faculty New Employee (12 month)

Used for 12-month faculty member; someone that is brand new to the university and being placed into a job for the first time. 12month faculty work year-round and are leave eligible.  

Faculty Transfer/Rehire New Position (12 month)

Used for transferring an existing employee into a different position or to rehire a former employee into a new position. 

Faculty New Employee (Deferred Pay)

Used for a faculty member that will be on deferred pay; someone that is brand new to the university and being placed into a job for the first time. Deferred pay is where the university spreads their pay for their teaching contract over 12 months. 

Faculty Rehire Same Position (Deferred Pay)

Used for transferring an existing employee into a different position or to rehire a former employee into the same position held before. The faculty member will be placed into deferred pay. Deferred pay is where the university spreads their pay for their teaching contract over 12 months. 

Faculty Rehire New Position (Deferred Pay)

Used for Used for transferring an existing employee into a different position or to rehire a former employee into a new position. Deferred pay is where the university spreads their pay for their teaching contract over 12 months.

Temporary Faculty New Employee (No Deferred Pay)

Used for hiring a new temporary faculty member for one semester. They will not be in deferred pay but will be paid for one semester only. The Factors and Pays would need to be updated accordingly.  

Salary Supplement (New Position)

Used for assigning an employee a salary supplement for the first time. 

Salary Supplement (Same Position)

Used for assigning an employee a salary supplement after one has been entered via ePAF. 

MSU Denver Salary Supplement Agreement

Completed Agreement should be submitted to the Human Resources Office prior to the ePAF being submitted.  

Student New Employee Hourly

Used forthe standard student new hire, either work-study, student hourly, international student; someone that is brand new to the university and being placed into a job for the first time

Student Rehire Hourly Same Position

Used for rehiring an existing employee into the same position or to rehire a former employee into an old position. 

Student Service Stipend New Employee

Used for the service stipend student new hires; someone that is brand new to the university and receiving a stipend for the first time. 

Student Service Stipend Rehire Same Position

Used for the service stipend student rehire; someone that has received a stipend previously and receiving one again.  

Classified Hourly New Employee

Used for hiring a classified hourly temporary employee; someone that is brand new to the university and being placed into a job for the first time. 

Classified Hourly New Position

Used for hiring an existing employee; someone that has worked for the university before and being placed into this job category for the first time.  

Classified Hourly Rehire (Same Position)

Used Used for rehiring an existing employee into the same position or to rehire a former employee into an old position. 

Administrative Hourly New Employee

Used for hiring an administrative hourly temporary employee; someone that is brand new to the university and being placed into a job for the first time. 

Administrative Hourly New Position

Used for hiring an administrative hourly temporary employee; someone that has worked for the university before and being placed into this job category for the first time. 

Administrative Hourly Rehire

Used for rehiring an existing employee; someone that has worked for the university before and are being rehired in a position or the position is being extended. 

End Employee Job 

Used to end a current employee’s existing job. This will stop payment on the current job but the formal separation process must still be adhered to. If the employee will be assigned a new job, the current job must be ended and run through the entire ePAF process before the new job can be added. 

FOAPAL Change

Used for updating the FOAPAL information to an existing employee’s job. 

Title Change

Used for updating the employee’s title to an existing job. 

Hourly Rate Change

Used for updating the employee’s hourly rate on an existing job. 

Supervisor Change

Used for updating the Supervisor information to an existing employee’s job.
