About Computer Sciences

The mission of the Department of Computer Sciences is to provide a complete learning environment in which students from a diverse urban population can gain, at the undergraduate level, a thorough understanding of current theories and practices in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Probability and Statistics. The Department fulfills its mission by pursuing excellence in teaching and learning as its primary objective in order to prepare students for successful careers, post-graduate education and life long education.

This learning environment is created by a faculty of teacher-scholars who maintain their currency through ongoing programs of professional development. In addition, the learning environment benefits from contacts and connections with the University and community through a variety of formal and informal service, professional and educational activities.
