Outreach

Welcome! The Counseling Center works with many departments and student organizations to work together on our shared goals of reducing stigma and promoting mental health and well-being on campus.

Some examples of our outreach efforts include:

  • Tabling at campus events to spread awareness of our resources.
  • Providing presentations around mental health topics like self-care, stress management and first-generation student experiences.
  • QPR Suicide Prevention Training
  • Community-wide Mental Health Awareness Days
  • Caring in Community Faire during Service to Success Week (Week 3) of Ready, Set, Rowdy!

Collaborate with us! Please read on for more information on our outreach services, upcoming events, and how to submit an Outreach Request for the Counseling Center!

QPR Suicide Prevention Workshop

Counseling Center Staff and Student Affairs Staff smiling after a QPR Training

Our goal is to train everyone on the MSU Denver campus how to engage in suicide prevention!

Request this 2-hour workshop for students, faculty, and staff.  You can have a Counseling Center clinician come train your group of 10+ to learn the myths about suicide as well as the signs, symptoms, and steps to help someone wanting to take their own life.  Submit an Outreach Request and earn the QPR Suicide Prevention Certificate.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, our inaugural year of introducing QPR to our campus community, the Counseling Center trained 116 staff, faculty, and students.

This current 2025-26 academic year, the Counseling Center has trained 65 members of our community… and counting!
