[email protected] 303-615-0006Erica Quintana-Garcia joined the MSU Denver Dean of Students team in 2017. Erica was raised in Colorado and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & Ethnic Studies. She then attended Metropolitan State University of Denver where she earned her Masters of Social Work degree. As an administrator in higher education, she has years of experience working in admissions, advising, and the registrar’s office, as well as mental health experience working with trauma-informed care as a victim advocate and counselor. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
Sonia Falcón joined the Student Care Center in 2021. She grew up in New Mexico and earned her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Washington. Sonia spent 15 years in the Seattle area, and while there worked with youth, young adults, and families in juvenile justice, mental health, and higher ed settings. She relocated to Denver in 2018, and since joining the Student Care Center team at MSU Denver, has been thrilled to return to supporting students throughout their educational journey!
Miguel Huerta is proud to be serving the Roadrunners of MSU Denver. As a Chicano who was born and raised in Denver, he is thrilled to be home after 6 years of working and living in Philadelphia. Miguel attained a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a certificate in Trauma Informed Practices from Bryn Mawr School of Social Work. Miguel was the first college graduate in his family with a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. In 2014, Miguel became a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Move Mountains Project in San Luis, Colorado. Miguel has served youth and young adults in a variety of settings including alternative education, non-profits, and grassroots community efforts. In addition to his work at MSU Denver, Miguel also serves youth transitioning from the criminal justice system back into the community and teaches in the MSU Denver Social Work Department.
Ben Cooper joined the Student Care Center in 2021. Ben has an M.A. in counseling psychology and a Psy.D. in child and family mental health. Ben has spent his career dedicated to the well being and education of children, adolescents and adults. Following his education Ben has worked as an affiliate faculty at MSU in the Department of Psychological Sciences, a child and family psychotherapist, special education teacher and elementary school principal. Ben is a native of Colorado and enjoys all of the outdoor adventures Colorado has to offer. Ben currently lives in Boulder, CO with his wife, Cath and their dog Lucy.
Jerusalem joined the Student Care Center as a Case Manager in 2021 after graduating from MSU with her master’s in Social Work. Jerusalem is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and has lived in Colorado since 2005. She has a deep passion to empowering communities through advocacy and service using an inclusive practices. She hopes to partner with students and the university to help alleviate barriers to student success. Outside of work, Jerusalem loves to enjoy her time with her family and friends, traveling, watching comedy movies, and planning special events.
