Transfer Students Orientation

To get started, you’ll complete Pre-Orientation Modules. These modules help you learn information about MSU Denver and information before meeting with an advisor or attending orientation.

What to do:

1. Sign in to the Orientation system using your MSU Denver credentials.

2. Complete all Pre-Orientation Modules at your own pace.

3. Once finished, sign up for an New Student Advising and Registration session.

4. After your advising session is scheduled, register for your New Student Orientation session.

• You are highly encouraged to meet with your academic advisor prior to registering for your first semester’s courses at MSU Denver. You can do this by
  • Scheduling with an academic advisor to meet individually through this link, OR
  • Signing up for a New Student Advising and Registration session. Please note: this day is for students only – guests are not allowed

What to expect:

• You will meet with an advisor to review your academic plan.

• You’ll register for your classes during this session.

Before you attend, make sure you have:

• Submitted all official transcripts (including college, AP/IB, and concurrent/dual enrollment, if applicable).

• Completed the Math Placement (if required).

• Completed the English Writing Placement Survey.

New Student Orientation is the best way to have a great start at MSU Denver. You have two options to complete this requirement, including:

• Attending a New Student Orientation Day – your first chance to start building your community at MSU Denver. You’ll connect with other new transfer students, meet people in your major and college, and explore the resources that will support your success. Families and supporters are welcome to attend, but students must register them for the session. 
• Completing a self-paced Online Orientation on your own time. Log into the system by clicking the link here to view your options to complete this.

New Student Orientation Session Schedule (tentative and subject to change)

• Check-In: 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM

• Welcome Presentation: 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM

• Student Groups: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

• Lunch : 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

• Campus Connect: 12:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Starting college is a big transition, and MSU Denver is here to support students every step of the way. After Orientation, students are highly encouraged to attend Rowdy Rally and Welcome Week events, where they can connect with peers, explore campus resources, and begin building their Roadrunner community. These programs are designed to help students feel confident, supported, and prepared for a successful start to the semester.
