Personal Biography

David Heska Wanbli Weiden, Associate Professor, is an enrolled member of the Sicangu Lakota nation, and an author, political scientist, and lawyer. He received his MFA degree in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts, his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a 2018 MacDowell Colony Fellow. He's published short fiction in various magazines, and his novel, WINTER COUNTS, is forthcoming from Ecco/HarperCollins in 2020. In his scholarship, he writes on American Indian issues, law and courts, and Native American literature. @WanbliWeiden www.DavidWeiden.com
