Prabhdeep Sandha, PhD, RDN

Biography

Prabhdeep Sandha, PhD, RDN serves as the Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She earned her PhD in Nutrition Policy with an Interdisciplinary Graduate Minor in Applied Statistics from the University of Mississippi and is an alumna of The Ohio State University and Punjab Agricultural University (India). Dr. Sandha is a Registered Dietitian with extensive experience in community nutrition, public health nutrition, and child nutrition.

Her research focuses on hunger, food insecurity, child and school nutrition, nutrition policy, and program development and evaluation. She is committed to advancing evidence-based nutrition practice and developing sustainable solutions that improve health outcomes in diverse communities. In addition to teaching both undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses, she fosters community engagement through partnerships that connect students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities.

Dr. Sandha currently serves as Department Chair, a role she assumed in Fall 2025. Previously, she served as Graduate Program Director, where she championed accessible and impactful graduate education. She is also the Past Chair of the Indian Migrant (IND MIG) Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, reflecting her commitment to professional leadership and service. Through her teaching, research, and administrative leadership, Dr. Sandha is dedicated to preparing the next generation of nutrition and dietetics professionals.
