Jessica Torro, MS, RDN

Biography

Jessica Torro, MS, RD, RDN is a Lecturer of Nutrition at Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with seven years of professional experience. Her clinical background includes outpatient nutrition care for both adult and pediatric populations, with expertise in weight management and menopause-related nutrition. In addition to her role at MSU Denver, Jessica maintains an independent nutrition counseling practice, where she helps individuals develop sustainable, evidence-based approaches to health and wellness.

Jessica is passionate about advancing equity and inclusion within nutrition education and the dietetics profession. She previously served on a federally funded grant program focused on increasing diversity in dietetics, supporting and mentoring students as they pursued careers as nutrition professionals. Her teaching, service, and scholarly interests focus on fostering a sense of belonging, cultural humility, and diversity within nutrition education to create more inclusive learning environments for students.

Her current and ongoing projects explore topics related to sense of belonging, cultural humility, and diversity in nutrition education. Jessica has contributed to grant-funded initiatives, including the POHA and BCAL grants, that support student success and professional development within the field of nutrition. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking throughout Colorado, and discovering great local dining experiences.
