Journalism and Media Production Scholarships
The Fund is established to honor the memory of Gregory Lee Pearson, by his widow Barbara Heney Pearson, in recognition of this extraordinary man, who for 22 years served as the guiding force, founder and chairman of the Journalism Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
The Rocky Mountain News and the Lopez and Bohland families established this scholarship to provide an opportunity for a talented Metropolitan State University of Denver student to finish their education and to pursue a career in journalism.
The scholarship was established by the staff of the Rocky Mountain News to honor Gene Amole. He believed strongly in the importance of print journalism and the staff wanted to support future journalists.
Larry Strutton Endowed Scholarship Lawrence D. “Larry” Strutton, Publisher and CEO of Rocky Mountain news graduated from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1971. The purpose of the scholarship is to benefit a nontraditional student at MSU Denver. The award will be used to cover all or part of tuition, books, fees, and other educational expenses.
The purpose of the Phil Lucero Memorial Endowed Scholarship is to recognize and reward technical communication students who have demonstrated excellence in the classroom and who have a passion for their discipline.
The Fund is established to celebrate the life, journalism career, and teaching legacy of Laurence Washington. Laurence was an important part of the Journalism and Media Production Department, serving as a member of the MSU Denver journalism affiliate faculty for twenty-seven years while also advising students working at Student Media.
To benefit full-time MSU Denver students in the fields of marketing, graphic design or public relations.
