How to Accept Federal Direct Loans Using Student Hub

STEP 1:
ACCEPT YOUR FEDERAL DIRECT LOANS

  • Login to Student Hub.
  • Select the “Financial Aid & Scholarships” tab.
  • Select “My Award Information”.
  • Select “Award By Aid Year (Accept Award Offers)”.
  • Select aid year.
  • Select “Terms and Conditions” tab. If incomplete, read and accept before continuing.
  • Click on “Accept Full Amount All Awards” to accept the full loan amount. Please note: For both of these options, the dollar amount accepted is for two semesters OR
  • On the line marked “Federal Subsidized Loan Offered” or “Federal Unsubsidized Loan Offered”, select “Accept”. Then enter the total dollar amount (cannot exceed offered amount) that you would like to accept. Click on “Submit Decision”

STEP 2:
COMPLETE ENTRANCE COUNSELING

Before receiving a Federal Direct Loan, borrowers are required to complete a student loan entrance counseling interview. This quick and easy interactive counseling session provides useful tips and tools to help you develop a budget for managing your educational expenses. It also helps you understand your loan responsibilities when you enter repayment.

STEP 3:
SIGN A MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE

The Master Promissory Note (MPN) is required to be completed by each borrower. The MPN is a legal contract that binds you to the federal government. Signing this document indicates that you promise to repay the student loan you are taking out. The master promissory note also includes important language about rights and responsibilities as a borrower. Both subsidized and unsubsidized Direct Loans are covered under the master promissory note.

Requesting Change to Loans

If you decide later that you would like to request an adjustment to the amount of your loan, you will be able to use the links provided below to request additional funds you may be eligible for, or to request a decrease or cancellation.

If you have rejected your loan and would like to have it reoffered, please contact our office.

To request an increase, decrease, or cancellation to your Federal Direct Loans for 2020-2021 (Summer Only), complete the Federal Direct Loan Adjustment Form.

If you are changing grade levels between the SPRING and SUMMER term, you must allow your grade level status to update after grades post before submitting request.

  • If you are requesting a FALL/SPRING or SPRING loan adjustment, you will need to complete the LNEVL form.  The LNEVL form must be submitted no later than May 10, 2021 to ensure that your request is processed by the end of the SPRING term.
  • Loan adjustment requests can be submitted more than once. However, if you have submitted a FDLA, it must be processed before you can submit another request.
  • Loan requests will be based on your total Cost of Attendance and awards already accepted. Any changes to your enrollment may affect your loan eligibility.
  • If you are returning a paper check refund, DO NOT complete an FDLA. You must complete the LNEVL form, section C. For more information on returning refunds, contact our office.
