Each Grand Rounds event is a unique opportunity for current or future students, faculty and staff of MSU Denver to learn about and discuss a particular subject from a MSU Denver Professor who is an expert in the subject matter.
In Spring 2026, Grand Rounds will be held on Mondays from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in West Classroom 233 and virtually.
Topic: Human Trafficking as a Public Health Issue

Event Description: Join Dr. A.J. Alejano-Steele, Professor of Health Professions and Co‑founder of the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking, for an interactive session on how human trafficking appears across Colorado. You’ll walk through realistic scenarios showing how individuals with lived experience may present in healthcare, behavioral health and community settings and learn practical tools to identify red flags and respond safely. We’ll correct common myths about labor and sex trafficking and highlight key resources, including how to use the Colorado Human Trafficking Hotline.
