Meteorology Minor

Students can earn a minor in meteorology by taking three required courses and four elective meteorology courses. The first required course is MTR 1400 Weather and Climate, which also can fulfill the Natural & Physical Science General Studies Requirement. MTR 1600 Global Climate Change can count towards the minor and also fulfill the Natural & Physical General Studies Requirement as well as the Global Diversity General Studies requirement.

  • MTR 1400 Weather and Climate (3 credits)
  • MTR 2020 Weather and Climate Lab (1 credit). This is usually offered in the fall.
  • MTR 3400 Synoptic Meteorology (3 credits)

  • MTR 1600 Global Climate Change (3 credits, Natural & Physical Science, Global Diversity)
  • MTR 3000 Weather Discussion (1 credit, repeatable)
  • MTR 3040 Computer Programming for Meteorologists (3 credits)
