Dear Roadrunners,

Welcome back to campus. I am looking forward to another great semester here at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

I would also like to acknowledge another successful, sold-out MLK Peace Breakfast, followed by MSU Denver’s participation in the Marade. To all who organized, supported and attended these events, thank you for helping drive and lead these important community conversations.

With the new semester officially underway, here are some important updates and reminders as we all transition back.

Stay updated on campus closures

With the inclement weather we experienced earlier this week (and more on the way), now is the perfect time to ensure your contact info is up to date for RAVE alerts. I also encourage you to review the University’s Severe Weather Alerts page.

Take a tour of new spaces

Employees can now sign up to tour the Health Institute Simulation Labs. Additionally, construction on this critical project continues in West Classroom and has now begun in Central Classroom Suites 105 and 220. If you have classes in WC this semester, don’t forget to plan your detour ahead of time.

I am also pleased to announce that construction is complete for Criminal Justice and Criminology and the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design on the third floor of the Administration building.

Don’t forget your ID badge

As a part of the Secured Campus Initiative, most buildings are now secured and require campus ID badge to access the building. Check your ID access ahead of time and view these steps if something is not working correctly.

Find furniture through Facilities’ Furniture Exchange

With campus constantly changing, offices and workspaces are changing too. Don’t throw out any good furniture, and don’t buy any new furniture, without checking the Facilities’ Furniture Exchange site first.

In the market for a flight simulator?

The Aviation and Aerospace Science Department is also looking to part with two older flight simulators and is seeking feedback from any departments interested in procuring the two units. Please contact Joshua Carrier, technical operations manager, with any questions.

I hope you all had a great first week back and look forward to seeing all that we accomplish this year.

Sincerely,

Larry Sampler, chief operating officer and vice president for Administration
