Key takeaways:

  • Professional staff members, deans and assistant deans must input their SMART goals directly into Workday for the 2023-24 performance-evaluation cycle (through June 30, 2024).
  • Employees should review goals with their supervisors for approval and to ensure alignment before submitting goals.
  • Only 41% of employees have entered goals in Workday, so deadline has been extended to Sept. 30.
    • Original due date was Aug. 31
  • Check out the Workday Talent Optimization webpage for many resources available to help with the goal-setting process.

Professional staff members, deans and assistant deans can now input their 2023-24 performance goals directly into Workday using the new Goal-Setting template. This is the latest Talent Optimization enhancement to be “turned on” in Workday, allowing employees and their supervisors to input, manage and track their goals in one system using the SMART goal methodology.

Reminder

Aug. 31 is the deadline to submit goals in Workday for the current performance-evaluation cycle (through June 30, 2024).

Tips for a successful goal-setting experience

  • Employees should consider their work activities and professional-development aspirations when thinking about their performance goals.
  • Schedule a goal-setting meeting to review goals with your supervisor and to ensure that they align and support the 2030 MSU Denver Strategic Plan.
  • Do not delay — input goals into Workday beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1. Goals can be managed and adjusted throughout the year pending supervisor approval.
  • Supervisors should work with their new employees to set goals within the first 60-90 days of employment. See the New Hire Guide for other onboarding tips.
