First Year Experience (FYE)

Overview

  • The First Year Experience (FYE) is designed to expose a diverse group of students to the vast breadth of opportunities within the field of aerospace. In a learning community cohort model, students will enroll in 14 credits together throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. These classes are designed to create foundational skills in English and Math, exploratory studies in aerospace science, and community building. Students do not need to commit to pursuing a degree in the Aviation & Aerospace Science department.

Details

  • $1,000 Participation Stipend
    • $500 to be awarded in the Fall 2023 Semester
    • $500 to be awarded in the Spring 2024 Semester

Program Requirements & Course Structure

  • Expressed interest in the domains of aerospace and engineering
  • Participation in First Year Experience Courses
  • Two (2) check-in meetings with SpaceTech Staff per semester
  • Bi-weekly check-in with Peer Mentor
  • Participation in events
  • Demonstrated Financial Need
  • Maintain an active profile on CareerLink
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Participants are expected to enroll in the required course structure. However, all additional classes participants want to enroll in during the semester is up to their discretion. If you are looking for course recommendations please feel free to reach out to our team.All participants are expected to enroll in the same sections for the following classes: 
    • Fall Semester (6 credits)
      • 3 Credit – Aerospace Industry Exploration & Analysis
      • 3 Credit – Basic Aviation & Aerospace Analysis
    • Spring Semester (1 credits)
      • 1 Credit – SpaceTech Scholars Seminar Class

Award Amount: $3,000

SpaceTech Scholars' Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to help meet the unmet financial need for current MSU Denver students with an expressed commitment in entering the Aerospace industry. The SpaceTech Scholars’ Scholarship will be offered to select students within the SpaceTech Scholars program. SpaceTech Scholars will have opportunities’ to participate in programing and engage with various MSU Denver students, faculty, staff, K-12 educator partners, MSU Denver alumni, and Aerospace industry partners.
