Official Document FAQs

Official academic documents are attested copies sent to MSU Denver directly by an accepted official source, such as your school, examination board, or ministry of education.   

Official test scores must be sent to MSU Denver from the testing service.  

Official documents can be electronic or physical, paper copies.  

Yes, we can accept electronic, digital copies of your academic documents. But they must be sent from a professional, verifiable email that we can match to an accepted official source – such as your school, examination board, or ministry of education.

These can be sent to [email protected]. Your official documents should have the proper attestations, such as stamps and signatures.

** We will verify sender email addresses through official sources. We will not accept documents from email addresses that cannot be verified. No exceptions.
** Emails submitted from general email providers cannot be accepted (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.)
** We cannot accept documents in a forwarded email as official  

Congratulations on being admitted to MSU Denver! You can now complete your Next Steps. These include:

• Receive your Immigration Documents and Visa
• Create Your MSU Denver Student Email Account (First Login)
• Sign Up for Orientation
• Schedule an Appointment with your Academic Advisor
• Register for Classes in your Student Hub
• Secure housing
• Reserve airfare and transportation once you arrive in the U.S.
• Review MSU Denver Student Insurance requirements and submit any required immunization records
• Confirm your arrival with International Student Support

If the school cannot send us an electronic copy of your official documents, they must send us a physical, paper copy of your documents through the post mail.   

Physical, paper copies must be sealed in an official envelope. Both the envelope and documents must have the proper attestations, such as stamps and signatures. A sealed envelope with the official documents can be sent to MSU Denver directly by the school.  

The school can also issue the sealed envelope to you or a family member. Then you or a family member can mail, or hand deliver the sealed envelope to MSU Denver.

**Do NOT open the sealed envelope. If the envelope is open, the documents inside are no longer official.

Yes, we usually recommend that students request for their academic documents to be sent together with their official evaluation report to MSU Denver. We can accept these verified academic documents as official.  

If not, then you will need to request your official documents to be sent to MSU Denver from your school or other issuing institution.  

Original documents are issued directly to you (the student). Official documents are issued directly to MSU Denver.
In most cases, original documents are not the same as official documents. So, we generally cannot accept original documents as official.  

If the school or issuing institution sealed the documents in an official envelope (and you have not opened it), we can accept those documents as official.  

Yes, EducationUSA offices may be able to authenticate your original academic documents. We can accept their attested documents and cover letter as official documents. Contact your local EducationUSA office for more information.

For U.S. high schools, you can contact your school counselor about sending your official transcripts to MSU Denver. 

For U.S. universities, you will need to order an official transcript from your school.

Many schools send transcripts digitally. Electronic transcripts can only be delivered by the issuing institution. Forwarded transcripts will not be accepted as official. Official transcripts can be sent to MSU Denver at [email protected].
