Office of Academic Affairs Budget & Strategy

Established in January 2026, the Office of Academic Affairs Budget & Strategy was created to bring together financial planning, strategic analysis, and operational support into a single collaborative team serving the Academic Affairs Branch. 

The Office of Academic Affairs Budget & Strategy serves as the central financial planning and strategy office for the Academic Affairs Branch. We partner with colleges, schools, and administrative units to support thoughtful decision-making, align resources with institutional priorities, and develop sustainable financial strategies that advance the University’s academic mission. 

Whether we’re planning for the next fiscal year or helping shape long-term initiatives, our goal is to be a trusted partner that brings clarity, transparency, and thoughtful financial stewardship to every conversation. Together, we help create the conditions that enable our faculty, staff, and students to thrive—today and into the future.

Strategic Financial Planning 

We partner with Academic Affairs leadership to develop financial strategies that align resources with institutional priorities and position the Branch for long-term success. Through forecasting, financial modeling, and scenario planning, we help leaders evaluate opportunities, understand financial impacts, and make informed investment decisions. 

Budget Planning & Financial Management 

Our office leads the annual budget development process and provides ongoing financial management throughout the fiscal year. We work collaboratively with colleges, schools, and administrative units to develop sustainable budgets, monitor financial performance, and adapt to changing institutional needs. 

Faculty Compensation & Workforce Planning 

We support strategic personnel planning by providing guidance on faculty compensation, position funding, workforce planning, and salary analysis. Working closely with academic leadership and Human Resources, we help ensure compensation decisions are equitable, competitive, and aligned with university policies and long-term financial planning. 

Financial Analysis & Decision Support 

We provide financial modeling, data analysis, and decision support that help leaders evaluate new initiatives, understand fiscal impacts, and identify opportunities to strengthen Academic Affairs. Our work connects financial information with enrollment trends, academic priorities, and organizational goals. 

Academic Affairs Planning & Operations 

In addition to strategic planning, our office coordinates many of the recurring financial processes that support the daily operation of Academic Affairs. We oversee planning cycles related to the University’s budget model, affiliate faculty, compensation planning and processes, sabbaticals, reassigned time, and other branch-wide financial activities to ensure consistency, transparency, and effective resource management. 

Data, Reporting & Planning Tools 

We develop and maintain financial reports, planning tools, dashboards, and standardized processes that support consistent decision-making across Academic Affairs. By integrating systems such as Workday, Adaptive Planning, Office Connect and institutional reporting resources, we help leaders access timely, accurate financial information. 

Our work depends on strong collaboration across the University. We partner closely with institutional offices to ensure Academic Affairs financial planning aligns with university priorities, financial policies, compliance requirements, and operational practices. 

As a newly established office, we are committed to continually improving how Academic Affairs plans, allocates, and manages resources. We work with campus partners to streamline processes, develop new planning tools, strengthen financial practices, and identify opportunities that better support students, faculty, staff, and the University’s strategic goals.
