It may be in the midst of winter weather, but our new Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) students are ready to spring into action and kick off the Spring ’25 term!2 MPAcc students laughing while filling out networking bingo sheet - Jennifer and Francisca

Last week we hosted our New MPAcc Student Orientation to officially welcome our newest members of our MPAcc program and Accounting Roadrunner Community. Excitement filled the room! Whether it was over dinner at table groups or through ice-breaker activities, a theme of the importance of networking and community emerged. What better way to start building those connections than meeting peers, faculty members, alumni before your first MPAcc class?!SP'25 New MPAcc Student Orientation - 3 current student and alumni panelists talking - Katie, Christian, and Sara

After the introductions and icebreakers, we like to address all of the nervousness of starting a graduate accounting program head on by giving our new students plenty time to ask questions directly to faculty and our current student and alumni panelists. Valuable insights and tips for success were shared with our new students as they embark on this new MPAcc journey.

Tips for new MPAcc students

  • Connect with your peers – lean on each other and work together.
  • Go to class prepared – actually read before class so you can engage in the discussion.
  • Use your student support resources – your fees pay for them!
  • Regularly check your MSU Denver email and Canvas to stay on top of all communications.
  • Time management is key! Find out what time management method works best for you and implement it with your studies.
  • Remember that graduate school is not just about the grades; It’s about the skills, network, and expertise you are building to apply to your professional path.
