As we are starting the Fall ‘24 term today, our new Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) students are hitting the ground running after our packed New MPAcc Student Orientation event last week.
Aside from clarifying program expectations and getting acquainted with one of our Administration Building classrooms, a main goal of our orientation event was for new students to start meeting people and feel a part of our Accounting Roadrunner Community. Whether it’s been just a couple months or 10+ years since completing an undergraduate degree, taking this next step of pursuing a master’s degree is a big step. Building a support system and networking are key to success in our MPAcc program and beyond.
Over dinner and icebreaker activities, our new students connected with each other, accounting faculty, and a couple current students and alumni. The excitement was palpable!
Throughout the night, faculty and our student and alumni panelists shared the following tips as our new students start their MPAcc journey.
Tips for new MPAcc students
- You get what you put into these classes – be present and invested in it.
- Try not to procrastinate – plan ahead.
- Communicate, communicate, communicate.
- Use your student support resources – your fees pay for it!
- Make connections now as a student – the Colorado accounting community is close-knit. Take advantage of the free networking opportunities inside and outside the classroom.
There are various events this fall term for our Accounting Roadrunner Community to check out as they continue to explore various accounting career paths and build their network – all can be seen here.
