University Strategy builds the systems that translate MSU Denver’s strategic priorities into coordinated action. The office connects executive decision-making with implementation, facilitates cross-functional alignment and strategic problem-solving, and provides internal consulting to University leaders and teams. It also incubates emerging strategic initiatives, helping new ideas move from concept to implementation and sustainable institutional practice.

External Affairs strengthens MSU Denver’s relationships with the communities and organizations it serves. The team builds and stewards strategic partnerships with community, civic, business, and nonprofit leaders; connects external partners with University expertise, programs, and opportunities; and creates avenues for meaningful engagement with MSU Denver. Through these relationships, External Affairs advances shared priorities, expands the University’s community impact, and strengthens MSU Denver’s role as an anchor institution for the Denver region and Colorado.

Government Affairs assesses the impact of policies, regulations, executive actions, and pending legislation on MSU Denver, its students, and the communities it serves. The team advocates for the resources and policies necessary for the University to fulfill its role as Colorado’s modified open access university, expand opportunity, promote student success, and meet the state’s workforce needs. The office also connects decision-makers at all levels of government with MSU Denver to deepen understanding of the University’s mission, students, and role in providing high-quality, career-connected postsecondary education.
