Q&A with Renz
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
Typically for me, I get up early around 6:00, then go to work. I work from home as an accounting coordinator for Enterprise Mobility. Then I come to class before clocking back into work, followed by some studying, going to the gym, and just some daily rest and relaxation.
What has your journey at MSU Denver been like?
It has been amazing. It’s been a great experience. I’ve really learned a lot about myself and just how driven and passionate I am to go above and beyond and what I expect for myself.
What are you passionate about within business?
Storytelling. Simply put, I’ve learned in the College of Business just how brands and people that are part of it have a story to tell. As someone who grew up thoroughly enjoying reading, writing, and listening to stories, I really just want to be a part of a brand and be able to shape the story that they relate to their consumers.
What are your future career plans?
I really want to get into brand management. I want to shape the narrative of a brand and find ways to reach consumers in ways they never expected.
What clubs, organizations, or events have you enjoyed the most at MSU Denver?
I really enjoyed going to many career panels. Last year, there was a panel called Caveat for Marketing Professionals on how to get into the field, what employers are looking for, and what you can expect in your job search after college.
What advice would you give to new business students?
I would say definitely take in as much as you can. Not everyone is expected to remember every formula or definition. I think it’s more important to learn how you learn, how you take in information, and how the people around you work to achieve what they want.
What’s something that you wish you knew before you started college?
I would say something I wish I knew before college is that the expectations you have are only set by yourself. Only you can decide what you can handle and what you are able to do. No one else expects you to do something you are not able to.
What’s your favorite thing about being part of the College of Business at MSU Denver?
Honestly, it’s the support. I dropped out of college when I was 19 and came back ten years later. Having the support to know that I can succeed and go far beyond what I thought I could handle when I returned to school has been invaluable.
