The Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science (CCMLS) is pleased to introduce a new two-year enrollment track for individuals seeking a flexible path to becoming medical laboratory scientists. The two-year, part-time program helps independent students balance their commitment to school alongside their professional and personal responsibilities. Part-time students receive the same rigorous training and clinical experience as the traditional full-time program.

Yes, part-time signifies that 50% of the curriculum will be taken each year. Students admitted to the two-year track must complete the program in two years. Students in a part-time curriculum can anticipate being in classes two to three days a week during the summer and fall, and will have two, full-time, one-month long Spring clinical rotations each year.
The minimum admission requirements(MAR) are listed in the MAR document that is posted under admissions (can we link to this?)
– Students must have a baccalaureate degree (BA or BS) from a regionally accredited college/university, majors in the biological sciences, chemistry, or related fields preferred, including:
– 32 semester hours in chemistry and biology including labs:
– 16 semester hours in chemistry, 3 courses with labs, including academic organic chemistry (200/2000 level or higher), or biochemistry (200/2000 level or higher).
– 16 semester hours in biological sciences, 3 courses with labs, including coursework in Microbiology with a lab (200/2000 level or higher taken at a 4-year accredited university), and academic coursework/course content in Immunology
– One college-level course in mathematics
– Minimum GPA of 2.70, calculated from all 4-year university coursework
– Minimum of a ‘C’ or better attempted in coursework prerequisite to the curriculum
Students in the two-year curriculum must meet the same Minimum Application Requirements (MAR) as the one-year curriculum”
Students who have families and work commitments have the opportunity to balance these many responsibilities and stay in school.
No, all concurrent coursework must be completed or in progress and completed prior to entry into the program.
