Teaching Interests

My philosophy education is best expressed in the definition of the philosophy of experiential education. Experiential education is concerned with the process of learning and with the content to be taught. Furthermore, it is concerned with the interaction between learner and educator, learner and environment, and between learners. Experiential education is concerned with developing the competency of the learner to integrate what is being learned with the actions that are required. Experiential education rests on the premise that the teacher is responsible for establishing the learning environment, placing boundaries on the learning objectives, sharing necessary information and facilitating learning; the learner actively engages in co-creating with the teacher the educational process. The learning is not a separate experience but involves the entire person within the context of the learning environment, where the learner is challenged to move beyond what is known.
