Bio

Dr. Cynthia Dormer’s areas of interest include weight management, body image, counseling, student success, and social-psychological interventions. She is the president-elect of the Colorado Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, the co-faculty advisor for the Auraria Campus Student Dietetic Association, and a member of the President’s Council on Academic Excellence and Student Success. She volunteers with several grassroots advocacy organizations involved with children’s issues and the League of Women Voters. She enjoys all things Colorado like mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, and skiing.

• Creating classroom community even in the online setting
• Using methods such as autonomy and experiential learning to foster student motivation, tenacity, and leadership.
• Technology and blended teaching
