Two Advocacy Goals:
1. Bridge the perceived gaps students experience within their respective majors departments. Through communication and outreach, the Student government will address unique issues each department faces to improve program accessibility and help students succeed within their majors.
2. Better prepare students for the workforce by creating a new cultural event. This new event will focus on educating students on how to tell their unique stories with pride.

College Identity Crest: 🚃 Light Rail: I love taking the light rail to school and RTD is arguably the best way to get around the Denver Metro Area. About 40% of our student body uses RTD to get to campus! | ⚖️ Scales of Justice: Joining MSU Denver’s Mock trial team has done so much good for me. My teammates have become lifelong friends, it has made me more confident in my decision to do law as a career and re-ignited my competitive nature all while being very fun. | 🌯 Burrito: If I’m spending money for food on campus, it’s gonna be a bean and cheese burrito from Los Molinos after a long study session. You can feel the soul of Auraria in that restaurant, and the ambiance is a lot more peaceful than in the Tivoli food court.

CouncilorStudent Government: The Student Advocacy Council is a board of student leaders that are committed to the advancement and advocacy of the student body. Council members utilize all means necessary for the incorporation of students into the university experience and are the governing body that shares responsibility with administration to bring about changes.
SACAB RepresentativeThe Student Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board (SACAB) representative serves in a key leadership role for MSU Denver. The SACAB representative represents Student Government: The Student Advocacy Council (SG: TSAC) and the student body on the Student Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board. The Representative must attend all regular SG: TSAC and SACAB scheduled commitments, including recurring meetings. This is a significant leadership responsibility requiring a commitment of approximately 15 hours/week during the academic terms and significant time in off periods as well. The SACAB representative should have well-developed leadership skills and a commitment to advancing the University in meaningful ways. Also, note that the SACAB representative will have the same responsibilities as a councilor.
Student TrusteeThe Student Trustee serves in a key leadership role for MSU Denver. The Student Trustee represents Student Government: The Student Advocacy Council (SG: TSAC) and the student body on the University’s Board of Trustees. The Student Trustee must attend all Board of Trustee meetings and committee engagements, as well as regularly scheduled SG: TSAC commitments, including recurring meetings. This is a significant leadership responsibility requiring a commitment of approximately 12-15 hours/week during the academic terms and significant time in off periods as well. The Student Trustee should have well-developed leadership skills and a commitment to advancing the University in meaningful ways. Also, note that the trustee will have the same responsibilities as a councilor.

MSU Student Government is council-based governance. The Council is constantly working to eliminate hierarchy from within its structure. Additionally, because every councilor is equal, every councilor has an equal vote in all council decisions and an equal ability to draft and bring forth bills.
Yes! You may run for any number of the following positions. However, you may only be elected for a single position. Therefore, upon victory in multiple positions, your votes will be distributed to other candidates by determination of hierarchy as follows: Student Trustee > SACAB Representative > Councilor.
Voting will be conducted by ranked choice/single transferable vote. Votes will be submitted on Roadrunner Link and then verified by a third-party site (www.opavote.com) to ensure an accurate tabulation of the results.
Yes, the SACAB and Trustee positions are seen as additional duties to a regular councilor.
Yes! So long as you are an MSU Denver student taking at least 6 credit hours and have a 2.5 GPA you are eligible to be in Student Government.
