Dear Roadrunners,

Students walk on campus during summer. The countdown is on to spring Commencement and, for many students and employees, a summerlong break from the Auraria Campus. While I hope all Roadrunners stay up to date with Metropolitan State University of Denver happenings, here are some quick to-dos for those who will be closing up their offices and workspaces until August:

  1. Close your blinds to help minimize heat load.
  2. Shut off and/or unplug lights, computers and electronics.
  3. Clean up and remove all food items.
  4. Have a plan for your plants.

Upcoming facilities work and testing

Folks who are soon departing for the summer should also be aware of the next step in the Network Modernization Project. The Information Technology Services Networking team and the Auraria Higher Education Center will be upgrading the Wi-Fi equipment on all floors of the Science Building. The project will replace end-of-life and near-end-of-life network equipment, improve the overall wireless environment and greatly enhance the employee and student experience through faster and more reliable Wi-Fi.

Outage window: Aug. 8-12

  • Employees who work in the Science Building should work remotely or from another building on campus during this time frame, as the MSU Denver wired and wireless internet and phone connections will be unavailable.

Testing window: Aug. 13-14

  • Network access should be restored to all floors. Technicians will be testing, tweaking and correcting any lingering issues.

ACTION REQUESTED: Building stakeholders have already been contacted directly, but please let the project team know if you anticipate conflicts or issues with these dates, including equipment/experiments that may be significantly affected by a network outage.
