Can’t find the information you need in our existing reports, dashboards, or other data resources? The Data & Analytics team can help.
Submit a request if you need data, reporting, or analysis to help answer a question, better understand a trend or population, support planning, or inform decision-making. Providing as much detail as possible about what you are trying to learn or accomplish will help our team understand your needs and determine the best way to support your request.
Existing reports: Explore reports and analyses previously completed by the Data & Analytics team on a wide range of University topics. These reports take a deeper look at questions about students, enrollment, academic outcomes, retention, courses and programs, transfer students, financial factors, and other areas of the student experience. (MSU Denver credential login required)
For example, you can find past analyses exploring topics such as first-generation and transfer student experiences, course success and DFW rates, financial holds and retention, enrollment trends and forecasting, student employment, study abroad, tutoring, graduate outcomes, and more.
These reports can be especially helpful if you have a question and want to see whether Data & Analytics has explored a similar topic before, learn what kinds of information may be available, or find existing insights that could help answer your question before submitting a new data request. Some reports reflect a specific point in time, so the information may not represent the most current University data.
Tableau Public Vizzes: Explore publicly available dashboards and analyses on topics such as historical enrollment and registration trends, student demographics and profiles, retention and course outcomes, transfer students, major changes, and post-graduation outcomes. (No login required)
The Lives of Students: Explore The Lives of Students, an interactive data project that shows the many different paths MSU Denver students may take throughout their time at the University.
Student journeys are not always a straight line from starting college to graduating. Students may change majors, attend part-time or full-time, stop out and return, or take other paths along the way. This resource helps visualize those “zig-zaggy” student journeys and provides another way to understand how students move through their college experience over time.
This is a helpful resource if you are interested in looking beyond a single enrollment or graduation number to better understand the different pathways and experiences that make up the MSU Denver student population. (No login required)
The MSU Denver Data Dictionary serves as the authoritative source for common data definitions. The dictionary was built with input from the Data Definitions subcommittee, which consists of representatives across campus including Admissions, Accounting, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Information Technology Services, Office of Institutional Research, and Business Intelligence. This subcommittee meets to review, modify, and add definitions as needed. View the most current version of the MSU Denver Data Dictionary by clicking below.
If you’re an instructor looking to help support student retention efforts, check out our Registration App. Updated weekly through the end of the semester, you’ll be able to check out what percentage of eligible students in your current sections are registered for the upcoming semester.
Many frequently requested reports are available on the Office of Institutional Research’s website, including student profiles, graduation reports, majors/minors, and grade information.
This tool, built by former BI student employee Max Boissevain, gives undergraduate students insight into how they can allocate their time at MSU Denver to progress towards their completion goal. It gives the student a snapshot of how their hours in a week are spent, based on student input.
