Academic Advisors are available for in-person and virtual appointments. Many of our advisors work extended hours so they can be available for appointments early in the day or late in the afternoon/evening.
When you schedule an appointment online, please make sure to include your phone number, the day/time/advisor, and preference so that we can update your appointment details. If you request a Teams video/screen sharing appointment but we’re having issues with technology, we will default to a phone appointment.

The CHHS Peer Mentoring Program was first piloted in Spring 2024 with a second pilot running in Spring 2025. We are excited to be moving out of the pilot phase and launching our next cohort in Fall 2025! We are currently accepting applications for both mentees (those receiving mentoring) and mentors (those providing mentoring).
Benefits of Peer Mentoring
There are many benefits to engaging in a peer mentoring program, for both mentees and mentors! Mentees are provided support to grow their academic skills, connect with campus resources, and foster a sense of belonging. Mentors have the opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills while guiding and supporting first-year students through all the facets of higher education.
Mentee Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to be selected as a mentee in the Fall 2025 CHHS Peer Mentoring cohort, students must meet the following requirements:
What does it mean to be an undergraduate first-year, first-time student? It means that you first started in classes at MSU Denver either in Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 and that you didn’t attend another college or university prior to starting at MSU Denver (including community colleges). While we hope to expand our peer mentoring program to include first-year transfer students in the future, at this phase in the program’s development we are focusing our efforts on first-year, first-time students.
Mentor Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to be selected as a mentor in the Fall 2025 CHHS Peer Mentoring cohort, students must meet the following requirements:
Each peer mentor will be assigned a cohort of mentees (between 10 to 15 students, depending on mentee interest).
All students following the catalog year Fall 2012 and later are required to complete the Written Communication (ENG 1010 or 1009); Quantitative Literacy, and Oral Communication requirements in the first 30-college level credits and ENG 1020 by 45-credit hours. Students who do not meet these requirements will begin to have registration holds applied to their accounts, which can be removed after students review the policy. If you have questions regarding these holds or policies, please contact your advisor.
