The start of 2026 marks an exciting beginning for our newest Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) students.

Last week, we hosted our New MPAcc Student Orientation to officially welcome the newest members of our MPAcc program and Accounting Roadrunner Community. The goal of this event is simple but meaningful: to begin building connection, confidences, and a sense of belonging as students embark on their MSU Denver MPAcc journey.

SP'26 New MPAcc Student Orientation - 4 panelists in front of roomFrom conversations with faculty over dinner, to hearing sage advice from our current student and alumni panel, to meeting new peers through a lively networking BINGO activity, we designed the evening to help students feel supported and energized for what lies ahead.

“The orientation was very helpful and informative. The alumni and current students provided us with a lot of valuable information and shared their personal experiences, which made the program feel welcoming and supportive. I really appreciated how encouraging and supportive everyone was throughout the event.” – Nargis Khojaeva, new MPAcc student

Tips for new MPAcc students

  • Step outside your comfort zone – Introduce yourself to classmates, ask questions, attend ASO events, connect with faculty, and try opportunities that stretch your skills.
  • Use your student support resources – Take advantage of the C2Hub (career services), Writing Center, Auraria Library, Counseling Center, and more campus resources designed to support your success.
  • Check your MSU Denver email and Canvas regularly – This is essential! Staying updated helps you stay organized, avoid last‑minute surprises, and make sure you never miss important deadlines or opportunities.
  • Find time‑management and study strategies that work for you – Experiment with planners, study groups, digital tools, or breaking assignments into smaller steps until you discover what keeps you focused and on track.
  • Reflect each term on what you’ve learned and accomplished – Regular reflection helps you recognize your growth, stay motivated, and align your progress with your long‑term accounting goals.
