At the College of Business (CBUS), we are committed to connecting students, faculty, and the community through impactful, skills-based programs. Our ongoing partnership with Mi Casa Resource Center (MCRC) is a shining example of this mission in action.
MCRC is a Colorado nonprofit dedicated to advancing the economic success of Denver families by providing training, coaching, and wrap-around support to jobseekers who face barriers to opportunity. In 2022, MCRC received a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration to develop a career-connected learning program focused on Human Resource Management essentials.
Christopher Stewart played the lead role in coordinating and developing the course content for the program, with support from fellow Management Department faculty Bill Carnes, Maria Quijada, Eric Blomfelt, and Apryl Brodersen. In partnership with Mi Casa Resource Center (MCRC), they created an Introduction to HR course for MCRC trainers to deliver to their clients. The course provides a comprehensive overview of workplace HR practices and prepares participants for entry-level HR positions.
This partnership benefits everyone involved: CBUS faculty share their expertise, Mi Casa clients gain skills and credentials to advance their careers, and students have a chance to see real-world applications of HR concepts. Together, CBUS and Mi Casa are creating meaningful pathways to professional success and economic empowerment in the Denver community.
