Social work is about turning your care for people into action. In MSU Denver’s online Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), you learn how to support individuals, families and communities while addressing issues like housing instability, mental health challenges and systemic inequities. For example, Professor Christian Itin has more than 30 years of experience as a senior counselor, clinical program director and substance abuse and mental health intervention specialist. He helped develop MSU Denver’s online BSSW and MSW programs and is known for his work in experiential and adventure based education, giving students concrete tools for building trust, leading groups and creating change with clients in real world settings.
In the online Social Work B.S. program at MSU Denver, you learn how to work with people in the context of their families, communities and systems. Courses help you connect human behavior, social welfare policy and research informed practice so you can respond to issues like housing insecurity, trauma, health disparities and discrimination with practical tools and a clear ethical framework.
Your coursework prepares you for generalist practice across many settings. MSU Denver’s online Social Work B.S. prepares you for professional entry level roles in social and human services. Graduates work in settings such as community mental health centers, schools, hospitals and clinics, housing and homeless services, child and family programs, aging services and nonprofit agencies.
Job titles can include social and human services specialist, case manager, family support worker, residential or community based program staff, behavioral health technician and outreach or advocacy roles.
