Introducing Victoria Ruesta, a Marketing Student that has joined our Fall 2026 CBUS Student Ambassador Program

Hi! I’m Victoria, a senior pursuing a degree in Marketing with a Digital Marketing Certificate. I’m currently a Marketing and Communications Intern for the College of Business at MSU Denver.
Outside of work and school, I love traveling, exploring new matcha shops, hiking, and shopping. I’m always excited to discover new places, try new experiences, and meet new people!
What does a typical day look like for you during the semester?
A typical day during the school year starts about two hours before my first class. I spend the first hour getting ready and the second hour commuting to campus, which usually takes about an hour. After my classes, I head to my internship, where I work until around 5 p.m. In the evening, I usually complete homework or sometimes meet up with a friend at a coffee shop to study together. After that, I like to get some rest and prepare for the next day.
What brought you to MSU Denver?
What brought me to MSU Denver was my experience as a transfer student from the Community College of Denver. While I was there, I was deciding between attending MSU Denver and CU Denver. I had heard great things about both universities, but as I learned more about MSU Denver, I was drawn to its diverse and inclusive community, the opportunities available to students, and the university’s commitment to helping students from all backgrounds succeed. Choosing MSU Denver has been one of the best decisions I have made. The university has provided me with the support and resources I need to succeed, while also giving me opportunities to grow academically and personally. I especially appreciate the sense of community on campus and how faculty are kind, approachable, and genuinely willing to support students throughout their academic journey.
What area of business are you most passionate about?
The area of business I’m most passionate about is digital marketing. I hope to work for a company that uses storytelling to build meaningful connections with its audience while also making a positive impact on the community through initiatives such as charitable donations, partnerships, and outreach programs.
What’s your favorite College of Business memory so far?
My favorite College of Business memory so far has been participating in the Global Business Study Abroad program in Vietnam and Thailand. This experience gave me a firsthand look at intercultural competence, global supply chains, and how businesses operate in an international setting. Beyond the valuable knowledge I gained, the experience broadened my perspective, strengthened my personal growth, and changed the way I view the world. It was an unforgettable opportunity that had a lasting impact on both my education and my character.
What’s one piece of advice for new students? And/or what’s something you wish you knew before college?
The advice I would give to new students is to not be afraid to ask for help. Everyone needs support at times, and seeking help is an important part of being successful.

I’d be a sweet potato… because I love sweet treats!
